The Foundation has been contributing to better social and community services, medical care, education and humanism in Taiwan for nearly 40 years. Tzu Chi volunteers living abroad began setting up overseas chapters in 1985. They use money that they have earned in their country of residence to help the poor and needy in their local communities. Today, Tzu Chi is an international organization with over 5 million supporters and over 30,000 certified commissioners around the globe. Amongst organisations supported by Tzu Chi within Australia, are the Royal Flying Doctor Service. RFS Officers from Gosford RFS approached Tzu Chi, and explained the districts need for further bulkwater capacity in view of the Central Coast's current drought situation. Tzu Chi Foundation, Australia, responded within a short time, with an offer of assistance. Bulkday held at Fire Control Kariong Organised by Inspector "Bart" Bartholomew, the Bulk Water Day resulted in the attendance of of RFS bulk water groups from Cessnock, Maitland, Baulkam Hills, and Warringah. Structure Fire at Spencer 23rd June 2007 20:25hrs Bulkwater in Gosford 13A, the Freightliner proceeded to a house alight at Lavender Cr Spencer. Upon arrival the house was well alight. Spencer, Kariong & Mangrove Brigades were already in attendance but live wires were delaying effective fire fighting operations. Once Energy Australia arrived, the fire was swiftly extinguished. Sydney Water Board, Berowra. 9th of September 2007 21:00 Whilst the brigade was training at Mt Penang, the Captain received a call from Fire Control, advising that Sydney Water were requesting assistance at Berowra. A major pump, transfering water from the Sydney mains to a reservoir supplying the suburbs of Berowra, Cowan and areas towards the Hawkesbury river had failed. Gosford Bulkwater offered its resources, and a roster was organised to man the fleet, from that evening for up to a four or five day period, until the pump was repaired by Sydney Water. Gosford Bulkwater 13 our 6x6 Scania with 12,000 litres capacity and Gosford Bulkwater 13B Volvo and semi-trailer with 31,000 litres capacity were used to tranfer water from a standpipe located in Bridge Rd, Hornsby, to the Sydney Water Tank at King St Berowra. Fortunately repairs were effective and Bulkwater were able to return to Gosford after nearly fourty hours of transfers to assist the residents of Berowra and the other districts affected. Thanks to the residents of Bridge St, for their patience and understanding with the Blue and Red flashing lights, day and night, and especially to the traffic control personel on Berowra Waters Rd who made Gosford Bulkwaters task easier. Around 6pm on the 1st, Avoca and their Group Captain received a fire call that smoke had been sighted at the Kincumber Tip. Group 10 responded to the call and advised that there was indeed an area of rubbish on fire. He asked for additional brigades including Bulk Water, as the water at the tip may not have been suitable for firefighting. Bulkwater responded with all three vehicles, and with other members standing by should a change of shift be needed later in the night. NSW Fire Brigade’s Saratoga unit attended the fire, along with Avoca, Copacabana, and Wamberal. Breathing apparatus was used by those brigades because of the smoke. on scene were Group 2, Kulnura 1, Mangrove 1, Kariong pumper (cat 11) and
